Elizabeth Liaci

Executive Director

Elizabeth Liaci is the Executive Director of Jersey City Write on Sports, (Wos). Write on Sports is a non-profit, alternative education and literacy program designed to inspire middle school students to improve their writing and critical thinking skills using the theme of sports and tools of journalism. Elizabeth has a long history of commitment to positively impact the lives of others. Beginning in 1992, she owned and operated Alessa Personnel, a personnel placement agency located in New York City’s financial district.

Under her leadership, Alessa made hundreds of successful placements. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, Elizabeth refocused her efforts and began working in the Passaic (NJ) City school district, a path she has pursued for 19 years. Elizabeth works in Special Education with intellectually disabled students. Her commitment to youth is echoed in her volunteer activities. As a CASA (Court-Appointed-Special-Advocate) volunteer, she advocated for the well-being of children in court-involved families. As a member of the Optimist Club of Passaic, she participates in a variety of fundraising and community events to support the youth of her hometown.

Finally, as the founder of The Antionette Mobley Scholarship, she raises funds for deserving students in honor of her former student. Elizabeth’s interest in Write on Sports arose from her son’s positive experience attending a WoS writing camp in the summer of 2017. Seeing firsthand the promise of this program, she began to consider the possibility of growing an affiliate program. Combining her love of education, social conscience, commitment to youth, and love of networking, she knew this was a project she could be passionate about. On the advice of a close friend in the Jersey City, Hudson County school district, she began to explore Jersey City as a potential site for a WoS affiliate. After discussions with the Superintendent of Schools and the Principal of the Barack Obama School, the site for the fall program was selected. Elizabeth has since acquired a certificate in Non-Profit Management from William Paterson University.
